EXPRESS Ramp - Regional Jet & Turboprop Service

EXPRESS Economy Ramp - Regional Jet & Turboprop Service

Better boarding for all passengers

The EXPRESS Ramp brings a new kind of customer service to ground loaded midrange aircraft - making the transition into the aircraft smoother, quicker and safer for all passengers.

Moving passengers efficiently

The EXPRESS Ramp offers some of the same advantages as jetbridge boarding - a gentle slope into the aircraft, a place where a number of people can stand safely, and a safe, dignified boarding process for passengers with mobility impairments. The EXPRESS Ramp facilitates fast cycle times in that it allows both able-bodied and disabled passengers to board simultaneously, using one piece of equipment.

Safe boarding for disabled passengers

The ramps meets the requirements of DOT rulings 14 CFR Part 382 and 49 CRF Part 27, requiring US airports and airlines to board disabled travelers safely and with dignity. The ramp also offers equivalent service to special needs and mobile passengers alike, so the disabled traveler is not singled out.

Quick operations

The straight-on, straight-off EXPRESS Ramp is quick to deploy and very simple to use. A single operator can easily move and position the ramp at the plane in less than a minute. The ramp isn't powered, which makes movement near the aircraft safer. Stabilizers and outriggers deploy for passenger comfort and safety. A floating bridge ramp compensates for less than perfect ramp alignment, and allows the ramp to be aligned at angles up to 45 degrees to the plane for tight ramp environments.

A better experience for all passengers

The disabled traveler is not the only passenger who has trouble with airstairs. For many other passengers - the elderly, people with minor injuries, travelers with small children or their hands full - the ramp eases the transition into the plane and reduces the risk of falling on the stairs. For passengers who can walk short distances, the ramp is wide enough to allow a conventional wheelchair to come right to the plane door. That way, the passenger can walk the last few steps to their seat without having either to negotiate the stairs or be transferred into a boarding chair.

Aircraft protection

Because the ramp moves manually, the risks of powered equipment moving close to the plane, often with jerky or imprecise controls, are eliminated. The operator has very fine control moving the ramp, and can feel its position. If the operator lets go of the push handles (or releases the tow bar) the ramp stops moving immediately. All points of contact are bumpered. The main platform bumper is shock absorbing and will not change consistency with changes in temperature.

Safe in use, safe on the tarmac

Each ramp is subjected to three times its rated load before going into service to verify its structural strength. An individual file on each ramp is maintained at the factory.

Reliable

The EXPRESS Ramp uses no batteries, hydraulic parts or electric components - so it's free of the failures associated with those components. This allows it to perform reliably even under the most extreme weather conditions. The recommended maintenance check is once a year.
